Alessio Carli, nato nel 1969 a Pisa, giornalista professionista, appassionato di cinema. Una passione, quasi una mania, che nel dicembre del 2011 è sfociata nel libro Cinedipendente (volume 1), seguito da Cinedipendente volume 2 nel dicembre 2012, dedicati a tutte le apparizioni e le citazioni della Torre di Pisa nel cinema. Un'opera che mi ha permesso di comprendere come la Torre Pendente non sia soltanto un monumento ma una vera e propria icona pop, evocata, oltre che sul grande schermo, anche nel teatro, nei media, nella pubblicità e nell'industria. Sulla scia del libro è così nato questo blog, un working progress per intercettare le numerose apparizioni della Torre di Pisa. E anche per aggiornare il principale filone della mia ricerca: i film dove spunta il campanile di Piazza dei Miracoli, ai quai aggiungere le pellicole nelle quali compaiono altri luoghi di Pisa.

Alessio Carli is a professional journalist with a great passion for cinematography. In December 2011 he transformed his passion into a book, which he called Cinedipendente (volume 1), followed by Cinedipendente volume 2, dedicated to all the appearances or mentioning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the world of cinema. The writing of this book made him realize that the Leaning Tower of Pisa has become much more than just a monument: it has now to all effects acquired the status of a true and real pop icon which is adopted in the theatre, media, advertising, and industry sector. So alongside with the book he chose to blog this site, which he considers to have two main functions: an interactive work in progress platform for the discovery of the other numerous appearances of Leaning Tower of Pisa in parts of films or any type of media; and secondly a method for updating the main thread of his research: movies in which the Leaning Bell Tower of Pisa and Miracle Square are filmed; in addition to also researching movies where other areas of Pisa are shown.

La Torre Pendente ha una storia molto particolare nella serie a cartoni animati Futurama di Matt Groening (l'autore de I Simpson). Nel 27° secolo un governatore di New New York super-criminale l'ha rubata da Pisa per trasferirla a Monument Beach insieme ad altri famosi monumenti mondiali.  Nel terzo episodio della 2a stagione When Aliens Attack (Attacco alieno), la Torre di Pisa nel 3000 viene distrutta dagli Omicronian durante la loro prima invasione della Terra (prima tv sulla Fox nel 1999, in Italia nel 2000 su Italia 1). Nel 3001 il campanile viene  ricostruito a Pisa. Ma nel terzo episodio della terza stagione The Cryonic Woman (Un'amore sbucato dal passato) l'astronave dei protagonisti, Planet Express, inavvertitamente distrugge di nuovo la Torre Pendente (prima tv nel 2001 sulla Fox, in Italia nel 2002 su Italia 1).

The Leaning Tower of Pisa as seen on the cartoon series Futurama
The Leaning Tower of Pisa plays a very special role in several episodes of the cartoon animation series Futurama, created by Matt Groening (also author of the Simpsons). During the 27th centurya super criminal mayor of New York steals the Leaning Tower of Pisa and places it on Monument Beach together with other world famous monuments. In the 3rd episode of the 2nd year of broadcasting titled When Aliens Attack, set in the year 3000, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is destroyed by the Omicronians during their first terrestrial invasion (the episode was first broadcast on the TV channel Fox in 1999 in the US and in Italy on channel Italia 1 in 2000).Subsequently, the Tower isrebuilt in Pisa during the year 3001;however in the 3rd episode of the 3rd year of broadcasting, titled The Cryonic Woman, the Planet Express space ship belonging to the main characters accidently destroys it again (this episode was first shown on TV channel Fox in 2001 and in Italy on TV channel Italia 1  in 2002).
