Alessio Carli, nato nel 1969 a Pisa, giornalista professionista, appassionato di cinema. Una passione, quasi una mania, che nel dicembre del 2011 è sfociata nel libro Cinedipendente (volume 1), seguito da Cinedipendente volume 2 nel dicembre 2012, dedicati a tutte le apparizioni e le citazioni della Torre di Pisa nel cinema. Un'opera che mi ha permesso di comprendere come la Torre Pendente non sia soltanto un monumento ma una vera e propria icona pop, evocata, oltre che sul grande schermo, anche nel teatro, nei media, nella pubblicità e nell'industria. Sulla scia del libro è così nato questo blog, un working progress per intercettare le numerose apparizioni della Torre di Pisa. E anche per aggiornare il principale filone della mia ricerca: i film dove spunta il campanile di Piazza dei Miracoli, ai quai aggiungere le pellicole nelle quali compaiono altri luoghi di Pisa.

Alessio Carli is a professional journalist with a great passion for cinematography. In December 2011 he transformed his passion into a book, which he called Cinedipendente (volume 1), followed by Cinedipendente volume 2, dedicated to all the appearances or mentioning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the world of cinema. The writing of this book made him realize that the Leaning Tower of Pisa has become much more than just a monument: it has now to all effects acquired the status of a true and real pop icon which is adopted in the theatre, media, advertising, and industry sector. So alongside with the book he chose to blog this site, which he considers to have two main functions: an interactive work in progress platform for the discovery of the other numerous appearances of Leaning Tower of Pisa in parts of films or any type of media; and secondly a method for updating the main thread of his research: movies in which the Leaning Bell Tower of Pisa and Miracle Square are filmed; in addition to also researching movies where other areas of Pisa are shown.

Luci della città

I film con la Torre di Pisa di scena in tv. Un titolo cinematografico per una trasmissione dedicata alla Pisa Cinematografica. Il libro Cinedipendente è stato protagonista sull'emittente 50 Canale, nella puntata di venerdì 2 marzo 2012 di Luci della Città, condotta da Andrea Buscemi (http://www.50canale.tv/index.php/video-on-demand?view=video&catid=51%3Aluci-della-citta&id=4905%3ALuci+della+Citt%C3%A0). Durante la trasmissione il professor Piero Pierotti dell'Università di Pisa ha spiegato come la Torre Pendente sia carica di simboli ancestrali che non hanno bisogno di traduzione, e in quanto tali comprensibili e reinterpretabili in qualsiasi parte del mondo. Il che spiegherebbe l'attrazione del cinema verso la Torre di Pisa e i diversi significati che questa assume sul grande schermo.

The movies with the Tower of Pisa broadcast on television. A cinematographic title for a program dedicated to the Cinematography of Pisa. The book Cinedipendente featured prominently on the television channel '50 Canale' in the Friday 2nd of March 2012 episode of Luci della Città (City Lights), presented by Andrea Buscemi ((http://www.50canale.tv/index.php/video-on-demand?view=video&catid=51%3Aluci-della-citta&id=4905%3ALuci+della+Citt%C3%A0)). During the program, professor Piero Pierotti of the University of Pisa explained that the Leaning Tower was full of ancestral symbols which have no need to be translated: they are symbols that can be understood and reinterpreted in any part of the world. This accounts for cinema’s fascination with the Tower of Pisa and the various meanings the Tower symbolises in motion pictures.
