Alessio Carli, nato nel 1969 a Pisa, giornalista professionista, appassionato di cinema. Una passione, quasi una mania, che nel dicembre del 2011 è sfociata nel libro Cinedipendente (volume 1), seguito da Cinedipendente volume 2 nel dicembre 2012, dedicati a tutte le apparizioni e le citazioni della Torre di Pisa nel cinema. Un'opera che mi ha permesso di comprendere come la Torre Pendente non sia soltanto un monumento ma una vera e propria icona pop, evocata, oltre che sul grande schermo, anche nel teatro, nei media, nella pubblicità e nell'industria. Sulla scia del libro è così nato questo blog, un working progress per intercettare le numerose apparizioni della Torre di Pisa. E anche per aggiornare il principale filone della mia ricerca: i film dove spunta il campanile di Piazza dei Miracoli, ai quai aggiungere le pellicole nelle quali compaiono altri luoghi di Pisa.

Alessio Carli is a professional journalist with a great passion for cinematography. In December 2011 he transformed his passion into a book, which he called Cinedipendente (volume 1), followed by Cinedipendente volume 2, dedicated to all the appearances or mentioning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the world of cinema. The writing of this book made him realize that the Leaning Tower of Pisa has become much more than just a monument: it has now to all effects acquired the status of a true and real pop icon which is adopted in the theatre, media, advertising, and industry sector. So alongside with the book he chose to blog this site, which he considers to have two main functions: an interactive work in progress platform for the discovery of the other numerous appearances of Leaning Tower of Pisa in parts of films or any type of media; and secondly a method for updating the main thread of his research: movies in which the Leaning Bell Tower of Pisa and Miracle Square are filmed; in addition to also researching movies where other areas of Pisa are shown.

Viaggio con Anita (1979)

Nel film di Mario Monicelli la Torre di Pisa appare nella scena finale con i due protagonisti Guido Massacesi (interpretato da Giancarlo Giannini) e Anita Watson (Goldie Hawn) che si rincorrono al rallentatore sul prato di Piazza dei Miracoli, poi scorrono i titoli di coda con la Torre Pendente in evidenza (per guardare il finale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFYG7xnrDzo&feature=youtu.be&t=1h32m28s). Le musiche sono di Ennio Morricone. Monicelli tre anni più tardi sarà il regista di un altro film con una scena girata alla Torre Pendente (Amici miei - Atto II), già inserito nella lista delle pellicole analizzate in Cinedipendente – I film con la Torre di Pisa.

Lovers and Liars (1979)


In the film directed by Mario Monicelli the Tower of Pisa appears in the final scene when the two main characters Guido Massacesi (played by Giancarlo Giannini) and Anita Watson (Goldie Hawn) are chasing each other in slow motion across the grass of Miracle Square, with the Leaning Tower in full view as the closing credits begin to scroll across the screen (to watch the final scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFYG7xnrDzo). The sound track was composed by Ennio Morricone . 3 years later Monicelli would direct another movie with a scene filmed close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa (My Friends - Act II), already included on the list of movies analysed in Cinedipendente – The films with the Tower of Pisa.
