Alessio Carli, nato nel 1969 a Pisa, giornalista professionista, appassionato di cinema. Una passione, quasi una mania, che nel dicembre del 2011 è sfociata nel libro Cinedipendente (volume 1), seguito da Cinedipendente volume 2 nel dicembre 2012, dedicati a tutte le apparizioni e le citazioni della Torre di Pisa nel cinema. Un'opera che mi ha permesso di comprendere come la Torre Pendente non sia soltanto un monumento ma una vera e propria icona pop, evocata, oltre che sul grande schermo, anche nel teatro, nei media, nella pubblicità e nell'industria. Sulla scia del libro è così nato questo blog, un working progress per intercettare le numerose apparizioni della Torre di Pisa. E anche per aggiornare il principale filone della mia ricerca: i film dove spunta il campanile di Piazza dei Miracoli, ai quai aggiungere le pellicole nelle quali compaiono altri luoghi di Pisa.

Alessio Carli is a professional journalist with a great passion for cinematography. In December 2011 he transformed his passion into a book, which he called Cinedipendente (volume 1), followed by Cinedipendente volume 2, dedicated to all the appearances or mentioning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the world of cinema. The writing of this book made him realize that the Leaning Tower of Pisa has become much more than just a monument: it has now to all effects acquired the status of a true and real pop icon which is adopted in the theatre, media, advertising, and industry sector. So alongside with the book he chose to blog this site, which he considers to have two main functions: an interactive work in progress platform for the discovery of the other numerous appearances of Leaning Tower of Pisa in parts of films or any type of media; and secondly a method for updating the main thread of his research: movies in which the Leaning Bell Tower of Pisa and Miracle Square are filmed; in addition to also researching movies where other areas of Pisa are shown.

Posti in piedi in paradiso


L'anno nuovo propone subito il primo film con la Torre Pendente uscito nelle sale dopo la pubblicazione di Cinedipendente - I film con la Torre di Pisa. In questa pellicola di Carlo Verdone, il famoso campanile appare sotto forma di statuina sul mobile di una camera dove entrano per errore Ulisse Diamanti (interpretato da Carlo Verdone) e Fulvio Brignola (Francesco Favino)  per rubare alcuni gioielli. Ancora una volta un film nel quale la Torre di Pisa coincide con un momento particolare della trama. I personaggi sopraccitati insieme al terzo protagonista Domenico Segato (Marco Giallini) toccano il punto più basso del loro difficile momento organizzando questo maldestro furto, che non va a buon fine. Verdone  diciotto anni fa è stato già regista e interprete di altro film con la Torre Pendente (Gallo Cedrone),  inserito nella lista delle pellicole analizzate in Cinedipendente - I film con la Torre di Pisa. Infine una curiosa coincidenza tra Posti in piedi in paradiso e  un altro film già citato nel libro (Susanna tutta panna), nel quale ladri improvvisati e inconcludenti compaiono in una scena con la statuina della Torre Pendente.

A Flat for Three (the original Italian title is ‘Posti in piedi in paradiso’ 2012)

2012 has brought to the cinema a new film with the Leaning Tower of Pisa,very quickly and curiously just shortly after the publication of the book Cinedipendente – The Films with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. In this movie, directed by Carlo Verdone, the famous bell tower appears on a piece of furniture in the form of a small miniaturized statute, in a bedroom where Ulisse Diamanti (interpreted by Carlo Verdone) and Fulvio Brignola (Francesco Favino) mistakenly enter while trying to steal some jewels. As in some other movies (analysed in the book Cinedipendente: The Films with the Leaning Tower of Pisa) the appearance of the Leaning Tower of Pisa coincides with a specific twist to the story. Specifically in ‘A Flat for Three’ the two above mentioned actors together with the third main actor Domenico Segato (Marco Giallini) experience the most unfortunate stage of their bungling story line while setting up a clumsy robbery which eventually fails. 18 years ago the actor Verdone had already directed and acted in another film with the Leaning Tower of Pisa called Gallo Cedrone, also analysed in the book Cinedipendente – The Films with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A last curious coincidence is between ‘A Flat for Three’ and another movie called ‘SuzannaTutta Panna’ which also features two clumsy and inconclusive thieves who appear during a scene while a small statute of the Leaning Tower of Pisa appears in the background.
